UPCOMING AT
THE JOLIET DRAMA GUILD
First
of all, thanks to the hard working efforts of Tom Novotny, Marty
Kaspar, Jan Novotny, Mike Manolakes and Rae H. Williams on January 11.
This quintet came down to the theatre and for many hours took
down, threw out, cleaned off, and rearranged the stuff in the loft.
You can now walk and find things up there. NEW RULE:
Nothing goes up there without being arranged neatly. Thanks again!
And now, coming up for The Joliet Drama Guild:
1. Commemorative Plates: To mark our 75th season, we have commemorative plates now on
sale. Pat Magosky has put together a beautiful plate to
commemorate our 75th season and celebrate the opening of the P. Seth
Magosky Museum of Victorian Life. It includes our Guild Logo and
a drawing of the mansion on a limited edition plate. To own one
of these 100 plates, click here to place your order. The plates are $50 each with the profits being split by the Guild and the Mansion.
2. Actor's Workshop: The next workshop will be scheduled soon for inside the Billie Limacher
Bicentennial Park Theatre. We do various things to improve our
craft at these meetings, including warm ups for the voice and body,
improvisation, monologue and scene readings, and cold readings which
are handy when you have to walk into an audition and read cold.
We give everyone a chance to comment on what is done, which gives them
an opportunity to hone possible directing skills for the future.
Come in clothes that you can move in and not worry about getting
dirty. See you there. Even if you're late come on by. Check back here for the date and time.
For further information call

Congratulations To Thespians Onstage & Backstage Of

The Joliet
Drama
Guild continued their 76th season with “Moon Over Buffalo,”
by Ken Ludwig. Show dates were February 13, 14, 20, and 21 at 8
pm, and February 15 and 22 at 2 pm inside the Billie Limacher
Bicentennial Park Theatre at 201 W. Jefferson. There were carnations
given to the opening weekend crowd as well as a special raffle for
Valentines Day.
Director
Marie Salvaggione with the
aid of Assistant Director Kristina Wilson with their incredibly
talented cast kept the audientce laughing hysterically at the
misadventures of the troupe of actors. They were
assisted by Producers Jan and Tom Novotny, Stage Manager Tammie Terry,
Fight Coordinator Peter M. Piane, and Props Mistress Tina Matriciano,
Assistant Stage Manager Armando Zamudio, and the Running Crew of Joe
Christopher and Adam Arriola.
The cast follows in alphabetical order, and included some new and some familiar faces to the JDG stage. Congratulations
go to the insane cast of Susan Bova as Charlotte Hay, Devon Ford as
Eileen, Bill Griffith as Paul Singer, Dan Jagodzinski as George Hay,
Mike Manolakes as Richard Maynard, Mike Sansone as Howard, Christina
Spiros as Rosalind, and Rae H. Williams as Ethel.
Audiences
enjoyed watching the trials and tribulations of a professional theatre
company on the road in Buffalo. The play centered on George and
Charlotte Hay, traveling actors in the twilight of their careers, are
performing Cyrano de Bergerac and Private Lives in a repertory theatre
in Buffalo. Charlotte has grandiose dreams of becoming a Hollywood film
star; George, on the other hand, is quite satisfied as a stage actor,
and sees live theatre as being superior to film. When the call comes
from Frank Capra’s office that the famous director is coming to see
their show for possible casting for his newest film, the slapstick
begins and love runs rampant backstage. This was a not to be
missed show!
