Plus! A Special Needs Family showing April 24, 2010 at 1 pm!
This uproarious yet touching 1950 classic, written by John Patrick, directed by Jan & Tom Novotny, and produced by Brenda Gilmore, is the 3rd entry in the Joliet Drama Guild’s fantastic 77th season! Performances are inside the Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park Theatre, 201 W. Jefferson St., Joliet, at the bluffs between Jefferson and Cass.
Mrs. Ethel Savage wants to use the ten million dollars left by her late husband to help the hopes and dreams of average people come true. Her nasty grown stepchildren, unable to get their hands on the craftily hidden money and hoping to bring her to her senses, have her committed to an upscale "sanatorium", The Cloisters.
There she meets a variety of oddball “guests” – who welcome Mrs. Savage into their midst - and conspire to help her foil the stepchildren by leading them on a very merry wild goose chase!
A tale exploring justice and the perception of others, this charming heart-warming comedy is non-stop madcap interaction between the two competing ensembles, the Savage children and the colorful assemblage of institution “guests”. With virtues of kindness and affection, each of these “guests” has their own story to tell.
A truly fun-loving romp, this one’s sure to have you still chuckling out the door and all the way home!
