JDG's
Fundraising Commitee
JDG
President Pete Piane has declared fundraising to be a top priority
for the Guild this year, and JDG Treasurer, Mike Manolakes, will
be the chair of a new Fundraising Committee that is being formed.
He is currently searching for members to volunteer to serve on the
committee.
The
committe needs people who can help brainstorm new ideas for sources
of funds for JDG, and who are willing to follow through on these
ideas: work special events, research grants, make phone calls, write
letters, etc. The more people who volunteer to get involved, the
lighter the load on any individual person.
This
is a vital task that is critical to JDG's survival. We urge anyone
who cares about the future of Joliet Drama Guild to consider helping
out.
If
you would like to be part of the Fundraising Committee, please leave
a reply in our message board here
or send a message to Mike Manolakes via our message board here.
Mike will be in touch with you and let you know when we will meet.

JDG's
Community Involvement
The
Joliet Drama Guild has been busy the last few weeks. Were we doing
a show and forget to mention it? No. Members of the Joliet Drama
Guild participated in the Joliet Area Historical Museum's Cemetery
Walk on Sunday the 25th of September. JDG members Brian Esposito,
Jan Novotny, and Patrick Green donned period costumes and played
former Mayors JD Paige, Royal E Barber, and Mrs Juliet Elwood. You
can read more on this event at here.

Pumpkin
Fest Volenteers
Several
JDG members led by Jessica Granger performed as undead Wizard of
Oz Characters, palm readers, and fortune tellers at the Billie Limacher
Bicentennial Park's annual Pumpkin Fest Event.
Finally,
on the Saturday of October first two of our members including former
JDG Vice President Pete Piane entertained the Joliet Historical
Area's Museum Supporters as 20's mobsters for their annual fund
raising dinner. All three events were delightful and enjoyed my
all who saw these wonderful volunteers.
We
would also like to recognize Josie O'Kain Costumes in Joliet (815)741-9303
and Illusions Costume Co in Bolingbrook (630) 972-9940 for donating
wonderful costumes to our community efforts.
With
Halloween just around the corner, please shop at these places. Unlike
these large stores that come out of nowhere and fade away on November
1st, these two shops are creating costumes for local theater groups,
school drama clubs, dance copmpanies and many other organizations.
They are our neighbors and a part of our communities. They are still
here in Novemer and their costumes are higher quality than anything
you will find in the polyester ridden bins of those other places.
